
Alan Emrys is a versatile, accomplished working-class voice artist and actor hailing from Caergybi, North Wales. A conversational Welsh speaker, Alan’s journey has been anything but conventional, spending five years in the Merchant Navy before training at the prestigious Drama Centre London. Since then, he has built a successful career across mainstream and independent screen productions, securing lead roles in both. Notable credits include Netflix’s Young Wallander, BBC Studios’ The Canterville Ghost, Channel 4’s That Girl, an award-winning performance in the independent short film The Wait, and a recent lead role in TNT’s hit US series Librarians – The Next Chapter. He also appears in an upcoming feature film currently in post-production, sharing the screen with several prominent industry figures due to be announced in 2026.
A self-confessed nerd with a deep love for gaming, animation, and storytelling, Alan carries this enthusiasm into adulthood. He speaks conversational Welsh, with a natural accent that blends RP with a soft Welsh lilt, adding a distinctive quality to his voice. This textured tone allows him to give projects either the strength of his North Wales heritage or a softer Celtic charm. Having spent significant time in Dublin, he can also effortlessly deliver a strong Dublin/Southern Irish accent. Other accents in his arsenal include American Standard, South African, Australian, and Heightened RP.
Outside of acting, Alan is an accomplished martial artist, holding his Shodan (black belt) in Wado Kai Karate, awarded by the renowned Kuniaki Sakagami. He also has experience in Muay Thai and Japanese and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. An avid motorcycle enthusiast, he rides his custom café racer through the streets of London and works alongside other working-class artists to help build a creative community for those without direct access routes into the arts.
