Hailing from the steel city of Sheffield and deeply influenced by his Italian heritage, Massimo Martella has always embraced a spirit of rebellion, stepping away from security to explore uncharted creative territories. His journey began as a singer-songwriter, refining his understanding of vocal timbre and character, which naturally led him to the world of voice-over artistry. This passion for voice work then expanded into screen acting and theatre, where he immersed himself in the Meisner technique, viewing acting and scriptwriting as avenues for profound personal growth.
Massimo has built a diverse portfolio, working on commercials, voiceovers, video games and short films for esteemed clients such as Lion’s TV, Paramount, PBS, ITN, Microsoft, Jewson, and Sega Corporation.
Beyond his voice-over and acting career, Massimo remains an accomplished singer-songwriter, professionally releasing music through his independent label, King Harold Records. After spending 18 formative years in London, he has returned to Sheffield, where he is currently developing his original script for a musical animation series, Large Goose—a project under consideration by the BBC and various TV production companies.
With a deep passion for physicality in performance, Massimo is also experienced in boxing, martial arts, and fencing, which adds an authentic edge to his work, particularly in action-oriented voice roles. His extensive accent range includes American-Standard, Australian, Caribbean, Glasgow, Irish-Northern, Italian, Mexican, Northern, Polish, Russian, and Scottish-Borders. Additionally, he is fluent in English (native), Italian, and Mandarin, making him a valuable asset for multilingual projects.
Equipped with a professional home studio, Massimo delivers high-quality audio using a vocal booth, Logic Pro X, Clarity VX, Voxessor, Abbey Road Mastering, Scarlett 4i4 interface, and an Aston condenser mic. His versatile voice styles range from scary and intense to authoritative, charismatic, deep, luxurious, smooth, natural, and reassuring, allowing him to adapt to a wide variety of narrative and character-driven projects.
